On 19th November last,matching pairs for the coming dream game of
gRicoh Cup Professional Go Players Pair Go Championship Tournamenth,in which leading
professional Go players are going to figth by pairs,was announced at Hotel Edomant at
Iidabashi,Tokyo. For the tournament,now it is the third year,all of the capable men and
women players from east and west part of Japan are getting together.
Many professional players looked forward to this meeting saying that they like the fresh
and friendly mood in this tournament. We may expect again the vivid and thrilling games
which are unique in the pair Go matches. |

Pairs were decided by drawing lots,except for the last year's winner,
Koichi Kobayashi,9dan, and Izumi Kobayashi,shodan,father and
daughter pair. As it is a dream match,every time a new pair was decided
there were cheers among the players waited in the hall. Masao Katoh,9
dan,decided to have Kikuyo Aoki,6dan,to make a pair. Katoh,9dan,
saidgMiss Aoki is strong.I will do my best to be equally good.hWhile
Miss Aoki,6dan,saidgMy mistake shall be followed up by Mr.Kato.hAnd
they wished a good fight each other. Masaki Takemiya,9 dan,is making
a pair with Yukari Umezawa,shodan,who emcees a program of NHK Cup
Go Tournament.Umezawa,shodan,told her impression as,gMr.
Takemiya looks kind.He seems to be lenient whatever I do and is

and daughter pair.When Koichi,9 dan,said
