It has long been said that to popularize the traditional Japanese cultural game of go, we need to get more women to play. It has been my belief that pair go, in which half of the players are women, will further the spread of go. Seeing the way in which the International Amateur-Pair Go Championship, which was held for the fifth time last year, has been supported with increasing female enthusiasm each year, I have been reinforced in this belief.

The goal of the Japan Pair Go Association is to spread pair go throughout the world, with the aim of bringing about a go-playing population explosion. I am told that recent go events in America and Europe have always been accompanied by pair go tournaments. Nothing could make us at the Pair Go Association happier than to see pair go serve a social function throughout the world. We ask for your cooperation.
