About 20 minutes after the games started, the commentary started. The commentator was Masaki Takemiya 9dan. His assistant was Akiko Tsukuda 4dan. They were in sync with each other and the fans were listening to them with a smile.
Tsukuda 4dan said, `Takemiya sensei! A lot of Yukari Umezawa and Chikun Cho pair’s stones are killed!’
Takemiya said, `Yes. Then, let’s take a look from the beginning. Probably, Chikun played an unreasonable move. Ah, whose move was that? Look, as I expected it was Chikun. I can’t think of any other professionals except from him who does that.’ |
The first one who finished the game was Umezawa and Cho pair and Kato and Yamada pair. Kato 4dan was saying modestly ``I am scared when it comes to the important situation.’ but she won with chuoshi and managed to capture many stones. Even though the Umezawa and Cho pair lost, there were fans queuing to get their autographs.
Izumi Kobayashi and Yamashita pair played against Kaori Chinen Women’s Kisei and Imamura pair. Yamashita who was black played his style, opening strategy, 5-5 point and 3-5 point (mokuhazushi). Izumi 6dan said happily `Our strategy was successful.’
Kikuyo Aoki 8dan and Tomoyasu Mimura 9dan pair who won the tournament last year played against Yumiko Okada 6dan and Kaiho Rin Honorary Tengen pair. Same as last year, even though the winner pair did not have their strategy meeting, they were in sync with each other and won with dignity.
Tomoko Ogawa 6dan and Yoshio Ishida 9dan pair played against Fumiko Sakakibara 6dan from Kansai Ki-in and Shinji Takao Honinbo pair and played difficult Go. Tomoko Ogawa 6dan who lost said sadly `I’m in a really bad condition lately.’
The pair of Kana Mannami 3dan and Satoru Kobayashi 9dan who played against Inori and Koichi Kobayashi pair were losing at first but managed to win at the end. `Mannami san played much better moves than I. You are strong! We will win!’ said Satoru 9dan who seemed excited for awhile after they went back to the waiting room. |
